Representative Larson met members of the Connecticut Congressional delegation and Governor John Rowland to discuss Federal and State response to the recent terrorist attacks. Representative Larson is surrounded by Senator Joseph Lieberman, Governor Rowland, and Senator Christopher Dodd as he explains what he has done to help the First Congressional District deal with this tragedy.
Representative Larson spoke with students across the District about the terrorist attack on September 11. He answered students' questions and reassured them that America will prevail against terrorism while maintaining the freedom that our nation was founded upon. Here he speaks to students at RHAM High School in Hebron.
Hartford Firefighters at the South Green station (Engine Co. One and Ladder Co. Six) helped place a flag on Representative John Larson's District Office in Hartford in a show of support and sympathy for the Americans, including members of the New York Fire Department, who lost their lives during the tragedy on September 11. Representative Larson encourages all Americans to fly the flag and the Library of Congress has produced information about flag etiquette.
Representative Larson spent the month of August touring senior centers throughout the First Congressional District to hear the concerns of his senior constituents. He discussed issues such as: Social Security, Medicare, prescription drugs, and "notch baby" legislation. Here he speaks with seniors from the Hartford Salvation Army Senior Center at the Keney Park Pond House in Hartford.
Congressman Larson brought a fuel cell powered SUV to Capitol Hill on July 31, 2001, for Members of Congress to drive and learn more about this technology.

Congressman Larson looks under the hood of the fuel cell powered Hyundai Santa Fe at United Technologies Research Center in East Hartford, where he took the SUV for a testdrive. The vehicle is more fuel efficient and runs quieter and cleaner than normal automobiles.
On April 9, 2001, the town of East Hartford hosted the Congressional Art Competition for the First Congressional District.
