The images below show several ways to query storm tracks and obtain specific data sets. | Place Name Query | Climatology Query | Extract Data | Place Name Query: A State-Level ExampleFor this query, choose a location (e.g., North Carolina) in step 1. In step 2, choose from several lists of storm parameters, such as storm category, distance, and date (e.g., categories 3, 4, 5; distance 65 nautical miles; dates 2002 to 1950). This selection will return all category 3, 4, and 5 storms from 1950 to 2002 whose centers passed within 65 nautical miles of North Carolina. Query ResultsClimatology Query: Eastern Pacific ExampleFor this query, choose a region (e.g., Eastern Pacific) by clicking and dragging your mouse over the map or by selecting one of the options from the drop-down list in step 1. In step 2, choose from several options of storm parameters, such as storm category, El Niño or La Niña events, and date (e.g., category all storms; dates 2002 to 1995; months July, August, and September). This selection will return all storms from 2002 to 1995 that occurred in the Eastern Pacific region during the months of July, August, and September. Query ResultsExtract Data ExampleAfter a user has performed a storm query, he or she can extract specific data sets for downloading. The user would click on the Extract Data button which opens the data download window, providing several options for downloading data. One option is to download just the queried tracks and their metadata. The other options include downloading both basins' tracks, just the Atlantic Basin tracks, or just the Pacific Basin tracks. |
