I remain committed to finding solutions to lessen our reliance on foreign energy, and allow us to become energy independent. America’s prosperity is at stake.  A comprehensive energy policy which encourages exploration, innovation, and conservation is the only way to lower energy prices for the long term for consumers, substantially reduce our trade deficit, and create millions of new jobs, all of which will ultimately lead us down the path to economic recovery and growth.

Actions

• I am a member of several energy related caucuses, including the Coal Caucus, Natural Gas Caucus, Nuclear Issue Working Group, and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus.

• I introduced the Renewable Fuel Standard Elimination Act (H.R. 703). The RFS Elimination Act eliminates the RFS and makes ethanol compete in the free market. 

• I have also introduced the Renewable Fuel Standard Reform Act (H.R. 704), which eliminates corn-based ethanol requirements, caps the amount of ethanol that can be blended into conventional gasoline at 10 percent, and requires the EPA to set cellulosic biofuels levels at production levels. The RFS Reform Act is supported by a diverse group of over 50 organizations.

• The House of Representatives, with my support, passed (H.R. 702) to lift the decades old ban on crude oil exports and adapt to changing crude oil market conditions. Ending this export ban would help us better compete in the global economy, strengthen relationships with our allies, and encourage new economic growth and job creation here at home. 

• I have also cosponsored the RAPID Act (H.R. 348) to facilitate and expedite the permitting process and provide for improved coordination of agency permitting. On September 25, 2015, it passed the House by a vote of 233-170.

• I supported passage of the Keystone XL Pipeline Act (H.R. 3) authorizing construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of the Keystone XL pipeline to provide jobs and energy independence for our nation.
