California Internship Programs

All of my California offices participate in the internship program. You may use my online application to apply for a position in any California office.

I have chosen to name internships in my Sacramento and Los Angeles offices in honor of two extraordinary individuals who exemplified public service:

The Joe Serna, Jr. Memorial Internship Program - Sacramento, California

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer established an internship program in memory of Joe Serna, Jr., who served as Mayor of Sacramento from 1993 until his death in 1999. Mayor Serna was a living embodiment of the American dream: a first-generation American who helped to reshape the capital of our nation's most populous state.

The Joe Serna, Jr. Memorial Internship Program is designed to provide experience to highly motivated and enthusiastic young people who plan a career in public service. Those selected for the program will serve in Senator Boxer's Sacramento Field Office.

The Laura Esguerra Adams Memorial Internship Program - Los Angeles, California

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer established the Laura Esguerra Adams Memorial Internship Program in her Los Angeles Office in memory of Laura, who was the Senator’s web designer from 2001 until her death in September 2005.

Laura Esguerra Adams possessed enormous technical skills and used them to create an innovative and award-winning website. She also brought a passion for public service, believing that technology should be used to increase public involvement in and understanding of our government.

The Laura Esguerra Adams Memorial Internship Program is designed to provide experience to highly motivated and enthusiastic young people who want a first hand experience in public service. Those selected for the program will serve in Senator Boxer's Los Angeles Office.
