I hope that this book will convey to you the talent of the artists whose work I am privileged to display in my Washington office. Each artist has a unique talent and most of the artists represented in the office currently make their home in the 1st District of California or have in the past.

Simply put, art positively influences our society. As we come to embrace the 21st Century, our contemporary artists will be the individuals who portend the future in front of us. Will we nurture and support the young artists of today so they may pass on their knowledge and inspiration to succeeding generations of artists and non-artists alike? In order to create a fully dynamic society, where creativity in any media is rewarded, we must accomplish this.

Please enjoy getting to know the art and the artists whom I admire and respect. Their work brightens the working environment of my office and serves as a constant reminder of our beautiful district.
