High Speed Rail Roundtable Information

A panel of experts joined Members of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and others on March 20th for a high speed rail forum.

March 20, 2007

Rep. Mica invited Members of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the governors of the states in the Northeast Corridor, representatives of Amtrak, and others to a high speed rail roundtable held on March 20, 2007.

The following experts in high speed rail and finance made presentations to the meeting's participants.  Click on the links below to view the statements and presentations.

The United States does not have a true high speed rail system.  A viable high speed rail system in this country would reduce congestion on our clogged highways and at our nation’s crowded airports. Construction and operation of new high speed rail corridors would provide thousands of new jobs. High speed rail stations would also serve as anchors for new real estate developments, potentially revitalizing their surrounding communities.
