Report cards have been mailed and the diplomas have been handed out.  Summer vacation has started for Connecticut’s teenagers.

Sadly, the joys that come with summer also come with the grim reality that these next few months are the deadliest time of year for teen drivers - more accidents, more serious injuries, and more deaths.

4/28/10: Recognizing Workers Memorial Day

Submitted by Chris Dodd on April 28, 2010 - 12:02pm.

Today we recognize Workers Memorial Day, when we honor those workers who have lost their lives on the job. And we vow that we will do all we can to make sure there are fewer of them in the future.

Every American worker deserves a safe work environment. We can’t legislate against accidents. But we owe it to the men and women who get up every day and go to work to put food on the table to ensure that they can rely on tough regulations, and that employers understand and fulfill their obligations under the law.

4/20/10: Equal Pay for Equal Work

Submitted by Chris Dodd on April 20, 2010 - 8:34am.

Today is Equal Pay Day, the day until which women have to work to make up the earnings they were shorted in 2009 compared to their male colleagues.

Frankly, it’s a little embarrassing that the fight for equal pay continues in the year 2010. It’s hard to find anyone who will say, on the record, that women don’t deserve to earn the same as men.

If you want to know the key to America's future, spend some time on a college campus.

College, of course, has always been one of the most exciting phases in a young American's life: a time of great personal growth and increased freedom, a place to be with peers and soak up knowledge, a chance to develop new interests and prepare for a successful career.

3/01/10: Why we can't fail on regulatory reform

Submitted by Chris Dodd on March 1, 2010 - 2:47pm.

The following Op-Ed appeared in Politico on Monday, March 1st

The financial crisis that has shaken the American economy did not happen by accident.

It was caused by outrageous greed and recklessness on the part of some in the financial sector. And it was enabled by the failure of our outdated regulatory system to stop those abuses.
