Healthcare and Alabama’s Seniors
Strengthening and securing Social Security and Medicare for current and future generations must be one of Congress’ top priorities. Long ago I made a pledge that I would never vote to privatize Social Security, and I intend to keep that pledge. I believe Congress has a responsibility to make Social Security solvent for not only retirees, but for near retirees, and future generations.
Another priority that Congress is responsible for is to make Medicare affordable and easily accessible. I was proud to support the passage of the historic Medicare Prescription Drug program. While not perfect, this legislation is a good first step for helping our seniors have access to life saving medications.
