H.R. 1595 Clears Another Hurdle

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—June 7, 2006—Washington, D.C.—

The Committee on the Judiciary of the U.S. House of Representatives voted unanimously earlier today to report out favorably H.R. 1595, the Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act, at a markup session.

H.R. 1595 was amended by the Committee on Resources of the U.S. House of Representatives on November 16, 2005. The Judiciary Committee adopted the Resources Committee’s substitute bill with no amendments. Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and Ranking Member John Conyers (D-MI) of the Judiciary Committee are both original cosponsors of H.R. 1595. They expressed their support for the bill during the markup session today. H.R. 1595 has 110 cosponsors.
