Bordallo hands over A.B. Won Pat’s typewriter to GIAA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — December 9, 2005 — Hagatna —

In a quaint presentation ceremony today, Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo officially handed over a vintage “Underwood Five” typewriter, originally owned by Congressman Antonio B. Won Pat, to the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport.

The typewriter, which is over 30-years-old, was handed down to Congressman Ben Blaz in 1985, who in turn left it with Congressman Robert Underwood, who handed it over finally to Congresswoman Bordallo. With Congressman Won Pat’s youngest daughter – Senator Judi Won Pat – present, the typewriter was given to the airport, where it can be appreciated by the public for all time.

“I have had this typewriter since I have taken office in 2003, and it is only fitting that it be displayed prominently for all of our people to enjoy and appreciate,” Congresswoman Bordallo said.

L-R: Edith Pangelinan, Deputy Executive Manager, Guam International Airport Authority, Senator Judi Won Pat, Mr. Frank Blas, Chairman of the Guam International Airport Authority Board of Directors, and Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo stand before the vintage “Underwood Five” typewriter, originally owned by Congressman Antonio B. Won Pat. The typewriter has been handed down from Won Pat to every Guam Delegate to Congress, and was presented to the Guam International Airport Authority yesterday, where it will be on display for all of Guam’s people to appreciate and admire.
