Congresswoman Honors Veterans

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 9, 2005– Washington, D.C. –

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo issued the following statement today honoring America’s veterans on Veterans Day.

“I join my colleagues in our nation’s capital and people all over America in expressing my deepest gratitude to those who have served our country.  America is a country that provides its citizens with the privileges of freedom and individual rights.  We must not forget, however, that these liberties are protected through the selfless service of veterans and our men and women in uniform serving today.

“Veterans Day honors those who have served in past conflicts like World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Afghanistan and Iraq.  We honor every veteran who has worn the uniform of our nation and answered the call of duty, including the active duty members, the Guard and Reserves.  We are profoundly grateful for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  We pray for those who serve today in harms way and we look forward to the safe return of every serviceman and woman deployed in dangerous places including Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa and the Persian Gulf.”
