PFC Michael Paulino to Attend State of the Union

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—January 30, 2006—Washington, D.C.—

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo has invited a special guest to attend the President’s annual State of the Union address scheduled for Tuesday, January 31, 2006. PFC Michael Paulino, originally of Santa Rita, has returned to Fort Stewart, Georgia after serving in Camp Taji, Iraq and will join Congresswoman Bordallo at this year’s State of the Union address. PFC Paulino returned from deployment with the 3rd Infantry Division on New Year’s Eve.

“I invited PFC Paulino as a representative of all the men and women from Guam serving in the Global War on Terror. His return from duty in Iraq reminds us that we should all be thankful for the sacrifices that our men and women in uniform are making,” Bordallo stated.

PFC Paulino is a 1989 graduate of Oceanview High School. He is the son of Mary Paulino of Santa Rita and is married to Juana Duenas Paulino of Maite. They have two children: Zachary, 11, and Zianna, 8.

“I wanted to share this important national event with a soldier from Guam and his family. PFC Paulino informed me that he is looking forward to attending the State of the Union Address and that he is honored to be representing the servicemen and women from Guam who are serving our nation, both active duty, Guard and Reserves,” Bordallo concluded.

The President is expected to defend his policy in Iraq and to express the nation’s gratitude for those who are serving and to those who have given their lives in the fight against terror.
