Congresswoman issues statement about Guam casualty

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Hagatna, Guam—January 17, 2006—

Although the military has yet to release official information pertaining to the death of Guam’s latest casualty in Iraq; the family of Kasper Allen Camacho Dudkiewicz has confirmed the loss of this native son.   His death marks the 12th such loss for Guam and the Micronesia region.

We on Guam are faced with sadness once again, - learning that a valiant soldier from our island has paid the ultimate price in protecting our freedom.  I wish to express my deepest condolences to his family, relatives and friends,” Bordallo said. “PFC Dudkiewicz now joins an eternal fraternity of fallen heroes who sought to secure the ideals of democracy, not only for America and her citizens, but for those less fortunate, around the world, who thirst for liberty and justice.”

A U.S. Army private first class deployed in Iraq, Dudkiewicz died Sunday.

“It is a difficult and painful burden for us to bear, that some of our best have died in military action.” Bordallo continued.  “As an island community, however, we unite in mourning such a tragic and heartfelt loss.  Like those in service to their country before them, many of our brave men and women in uniform offer that sacred gift of life for all of us.  Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.”
