Nonmethane Hydrocarbon and Selected Halocarbon Measurements During the ACE-1 Lagrangian Experiments

Nonmethane hydrocarbon (NMHC) and halocarbon gases were measured in whole air samples collected aboard the NCAR C-130 aircraft during the two Lagrangian Experiments performed as part of the Southern Hemisphere Marine Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE-1). Both Lagrangian Experiments took place south of Hobart, Tasmania. Lagrangians A and B each consisted of three approximately 9 hour flights made during December 1-2, and December 7-8, 1995, respectively. Vertical and horizontal trace gas gradients determined for each flight will be discussed, as well as any significant changes observed between consecutive Lagrangian flights. Estimated fluxes of CH3I from the ocean to the atmosphere will also be presented.
