          AVIS, AAutomated Voice Information System,@ is designed to bring you current case information by telephone. AVIS provides case information by allowing anyone to call the Court, and request information about a particular case.

          To get case information through AVIS, you only need to have

          ö the case number,
          ö or the name of the party in a case,
          ö and a touch tone phone.

          AVIS only takes about a minute or two to provide the requested information. If additional information is needed or the case number is not known, the caller can be transferred to the Clerk=s Office or the Docketing Unit for further assistance. If your case is a civil case, please call 415-556-9730; if it is a criminal case, please call 415-556-9740.

          AVIS is free of charge - there is no fee or account required.

          # TYPE OF INFORMATION:

          The following information is always provided:

          1. Number of parties in the case.
          2. Names of the lead parties.
          3. Date the case was opened or reopened.
          4. Date the case was closed or reclosed.

          Additional information that may be available depending on particular case status:

          5. The lead case number in an association of cases (i.e., consolidated, cross-appeal, etc.)
          6. Judgment of the Court (affirmed, reversed, remanded, etc.)
          7. Date the mandate was issued.
          8. Whether the case is currently held in abeyance
          9. When and where the case will be orally argued.
          10. If the case is being submitted on the briefs.
          11. The names of the judges on the panel.
          12. Selected pending deadlines.
          13. Selected pending motions.
          14. Selected motions terminated in the last thirty (30) days.

          # INSTRUCTIONS:

          1. Call the AVIS phone number,
          using a touch tone telephone.



          2. Choose one of the options given by the greeting. Your choices are as follows:

          a. PRESS 1 to search by case number
          b. PRESS 2 to search by party name
          c. PRESS 3 to hear instructions
          d. PRESS 4 to be transferred to the Clerk=s Office.
          e. PRESS * to terminate your call at anytime, just hang-up.
