Establishing HTML Links to Documents in CBDNet

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CBDNetSimple-SearchFielded-SearchExtractBrowseSearch-Help

This page describes the HTML coding necessary to link directly to Notices contained in the Archived CBD Databases online via GPO Access.

The HTML necessary to create a link consists of three parts:

  1. the URL of the cgi script which retrieves the document,
  2. the Database Name which contains the document you are linking to,
  3. the Document ID of the specific document you are linking to.

Values for each part are determined as follows:

  1. URL of the cgi script: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi.
(This does not change and is used in each link you create.)
  2. Database Name: The value for Database name in the CBD is HTMLCBD_ALL This value, which is case sensitive, is used in the "dbname" field in the HTML link you create. For example: dbname=HTMLCBD_ALL
  3. Document ID: The document id in a CBD notice is the Submission number. The string should appear as follows: docid=cite=SN210327

You now have the required values to create an HTML link to a specific document residing on the CBD servers! Follow the syntax in the examples below to create your personalized HTML links. http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=HTMLCBD_ALL&docid;=cite=SN210327
