Year-End Coal Stocks, 1994-2003. This line graph shows the amount of coal held in stocks by each sector for the years 1994 through 2003. Coal stocks in the electric power sector at the end of the year were 126.9 million short tons in 1994 and 121.6 million short tons in 2003. Coal stocks at other industrial plants at the end of the year were 6.6 million short tons in 1994 and 4.7 million short tons in 2003. Coal stocks at coke plants at the end of the year were 2.7 million short tons in 1994 and 0.9 million short tons in 2003. Coal stocks at producers and distributers at the end of the year were 33.2 million short tons in 1994 and 36.8 million short tons in 2003.
