Systems Engineering, Administration and Operation

ORNL's CCS staff have extensive experience in supporting advanced computing systems for national user communities, such as the SciDAC programs, and evaluation of computing architectures. Our partners, Argonne and PNNL, also have extensive experience operating high-end computing systems, including a production terascale computing facility.

The NCCS computer facility is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to provide for continuous operation of the center and for immediate problem resulution. On evenings and weekends, the operators will provide first-line problem resolution for the users of the NLCF with additional user support and system administrators on-call for more difficult problems. The NCCS will maintain a shared-database of trouble tickets for coordination among the partner sites and the distributed software development team.
