About the Office: The Criminal Division, Narcotic and Dangerous Drugs Section, U.S. Department of Justice, is seeking one experienced attorney to fill a position in its Litigation Unit, located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities and Opportunities Offered : The Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section (NDDS) supervises and has responsibility for enforcing federal statutes pertaining to narcotic drugs and other controlled substances. The section advises the Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division, Department of Justice and other federal officials involved in drug enforcement on all matters related to federal narcotics law enforcement including proposed and enacted legislation, policy, enforcement initiatives, and criminal and civil litigation. The section has direct litigation responsibilities in significant investigations and prosecutions targeting national and international narcotics trafficking and money laundering organizations.

The Litigation Unit attorneys work with federal law enforcement agencies to identify, investigate and prosecute the most significant national and international drug trafficking and money laundering organizations. As part of the Bilateral Case Initiative, the majority of the Litigation Unit attorneys prosecute major transnational narcotic traffickers and money launderers in U.S. courts, using evidence gathered by U.S. federal agents and foreign law enforcement officials abroad.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, territory, or the District of Columbia, and have at least five years of post-J.D. legal experience as a criminal prosecutor. The ability to read, speak and write Spanish is preferred but not required. Current AUSA experience is strongly preferred.

Travel: Occasional travel will be required.

Salary: GS-13: $72,108 - $93,742 per annum GS-14: $85,210 - $110,775 per annum GS-15: $100,231 - $130,305 per annum

Location: The position is located in Washington, D.C.

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not be authorized.
