About the Office: The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Oregon serves the entire State of Oregon. Its principal office is in Portland, with staffed branch offices in Eugene and Medford. This vacancy is in the Medford branch office, which is located in the southern part of the state, 27 miles north of the California border. There are 40 Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) assigned in the Portland office, nine AUSAs assigned to Eugene and two AUSAs assigned to Medford.

Responsibilities and Opportunities Offered : This vacancy is for a senior AUSA position in the Medford office. The position encompasses the prosecution of federal criminal cases, such as complex drug trafficking, money laundering, firearms, immigration, bank robbery and economic crime cases, among others. The position will also involve some administrative responsibilities.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member in good standing of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least 5 years experience litigating criminal cases. Applicants who are not members of the Oregon State Bar will be expected to successfully complete the Oregon Bar examination at the next available opportunity.

Perferred Qualifications: Outstanding academic record; extensive litigation experience, including complex cases; exceptional research and writing ability; superior organizational skills; and some management experience.

Travel: Limited.

Salary Information : Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $44,350 to $115,450 plus locality pay where authorized.

Location: This position will be located in Medford, Oregon.

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses will not be authorized.
