ACS 2000-2001 CD-ROM is Now Available to Order

The CD-ROM containing the 2000-2001 ACS data is now available to order free of charge from the U.S. Census Bureau by calling 301-763-INFO (4636).

The ACS data for a sample of over 700,000 households surveyed in the 2000 and 2001 Supplementary Surveys are included on this CD-ROM, as well as data for the 31 American Community Survey Test Sites.

Supplementary Surveys
Data from the Census 2000 Supplementary Survey (C2SS) and the 2001 Supplementary Survey (SS01) for the country, the 50 states, Washington, D.C., and areas of 1 million or more population, and single-year profiles for areas of 250,000 or more population are included for the first time.

Public Use Microdata Sample files (also known as PUMS) for the 2001 Supplementary Survey at the state level are also included in this edition.

ACS Test Sites
Thirty-one sites currently are being surveyed in the comparison phase of the ACS. Data from 2000 and 2001 for the 22 sites with populations of 65,000 or more are published on this CD-ROM. The remainder of the 31 test sites are smaller areas, and data for them will be published over time, using multi-year averages.

Enhancements to the 2000-2001 CD-ROM

  • Data for 2000 and 2001 are available in the same table to allow for easy comparisons.
  • A Quick Open and Search feature lets you find the information you need faster than ever before.
  • The ability to drill down through geographies and create custom profiles from user-specified sets of geography gives users more flexibility to work with the data.
  • Updated mapping functions, including the C2SS and SS01 geographies, allow users to map the data.
  • Revised tutorials incorporate screen shots to assist the user by displaying how the data or screen should look at that point in the instructions.
