This page provides general information about the overall EZ/EC/RC Programs, with a particular focus on HHS support for community renewal projects throughout the nation. It includes hyperlinks to key web pages managed by the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and other agencies that comprise the federal team for supporting local-level EZ/EC/RC projects.

SPECIAL INFORMATION
The project periods for EZ/EC SSBG Funds awarded to States for local EZ/EC projects will expire on December 21, 2004 . The Office of Community Services is available to assist States that want to close-out grants (see Information Memorandum #5) or receive a grant extension. Extensions are available to projects with significant unexpended grant funds and a project plan for the extension period. Extensions are available through December 31, 2009 , (see Information Memorandum #4). All requests must be submitted jointly by the State Agency that is the official grantee of record for the E/EC SSBG grant funds and the Local Lead Entity for the EZ/EC Project Area.

The Office of Community Services is honored to be the lead HHS office for the EZ/EC Program. OCS oversees flexible grants for the EZ/EC projects and manages the overall HHS effort to help EZ/EC sites achieve their strategic goals. The office also works closely with other federal agencies in guiding the program. In addition to this ongoing work, the office has established two priorities for its contribution to the EZ/EC Program in 2001:
