Project Exile

Project Exile, initiated in March 1999, is the part of the Triggerlock II program that operates in Oakland.  The Project involves a team of dedicated police officers, ATF officials and prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's Office who investigate and prosecute gun cases.   Using the intelligence gathered and collected from the homicide, narcotics, guns and weapons units of the respective police departments and federal agencies, the district attorneys and federal prosecutors identify the most violent felons and largest narcotics traffickers, share intelligence and resources, and investigate these defendants for firearms and other offenses.
