Victim and Witness Program
The Department of Justice is firmly committed to providing crime victims and witnesses the rights and services required under Federal Law.
The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California employs a Victim-Witness Coordinator who is responsible for the Victim Assistance Program. The District also employs two Victim Advocates. Victims who are involved in cases being prosecuted in the San Francisco U.S. Attorney's Office may contact the Advocate at 1-(800)-273-9606. Cases being handled by the San Jose or Oakland offices may reach an Advocate at 1-(888)-396-3270.
In addition to notifying victims about the status of the case in which they are involved, program personnel can provide information about state victim compensation, restitution and referrals for assistance with medical, shelter or counseling needs.
