Monitoring transport by cross-stream voltage
Larsen, J.C.
Proceedings from the Principal Investigators Meeting, the
Atlantic Climate Change Program, NOAA/University Corporation for
Atmospheric Research, University of Miami, Miami, FL, March 9 11,
1992, 101-106 (1992)
The ocean circulation influences global climate change through
the poleward transport of heat via the thermohaline circulation
(Bryan, 1986; Broecker, 1987; Brewer et al., 1983) and the
western boundary currents (Hall and Bryden, 1982). Long-term
transport measurements of the circulation will, therefore,
provide one of the basic data sets for assessing the influence of
the changes in the ocean circulation on the changes in climate
and for evaluating ocean model simulations of the climate change.
