Welcome to

U.S. District Court California Northern PACER

Civil cases filed after 4/1/2001 and Criminal cases filed after 1/1/2004 can be found at ecf.cand.uscourts.gov.

On 4/2/2001 the court began using a new system which permits electronic filing for its new civil cases. Effective 1/1/2004, new criminal cases are being opened in our new system as well.

The URL for the new web site is ecf.cand.uscourts.gov .

Your PACER login will allow you access to the new system. Use the "Live E-Filing Login" link, and choose "Reports" from the blue toolbar on the welcome page to run a docket sheet.

Dockets for civil cases filed prior to April 2001 will still be found at this site. Dockets for Criminal and miscellaneous cases opened prior to 1/1/2004 can still be found at this site.

Our two systems will merge sometime in mid-2004, after which all information for all cases will be found at the new "ECF" site.

UPDATES: Dockets on this system are updated every night; the info you find should be current as of the previous business day. Updates are usually posted to this system by 1 AM Pacific time.

CONTENT: This system contains all Civil cases filed between 8/90 and 3/31/01, and all Criminal cases filed between 8/91 and 1/04. Some but not all earlier filed cases which were pending on 8/90 and 8/91 can also be found. Miscellaneous case dockets are also available.
