Project Impact Prevention Loan Program

Fannie Mae Project Impact Prevention Loan Brochure in PDF Format

Your Family, Your Safety, Your Choice.

Every day a section of the United States is threatened by the devastation hurricanes or other disasters can bring. Your family's safety and security - everything you work for - could be blown away in the next storm. It doesn't have to be that way.

The time is now to take the preventative steps to safeguard your family's safety and financial future.

Fannie Mae has joined with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of Florida to make consumer installment loans at competitive interest rates available to homeowners in Florida for the purpose of making certain disaster prevention improvements.

While it is expected that this program will spread from Florida throughout the United States, the date has not yet been determined for expansion. Many banks and other financial institutions across the United States offer different loan programs that would enable you to undertake these actions and protect your family.

The Florida Program (open only to residents of Florida)

Why use this program?

Loan Details
Unsecured, fixed-rate loans of up to $20,000 are available and you'll have up to ten years to pay it off. The rate is set periodically based upon market conditions (but set for the term of the loan.)

All one- to two-family homeowners in Florida are eligible for the loan program. The loans are originated by a Fannie Mae-approved specialty third-party originator, and serviced by a Fannie Mae-approved loan servicer.

Prevention Upgrade Examples
Examples of disaster prevention upgrades include structural elevation, utility protection/elevation, elevation of HVAC equipment, foundation bolting, chimney bracing, cripple wall stiffening, sprinkler system installation/ retrofit, replacement of roofing systems, installation of fire-resistant siding, installation of shutters/protection systems for openings, structural strengthening for wind, installation of hail resistant roofing materials/ window glazings, and construction of an in-home "safe room".
