About the State and Local Police Liaison Division

The Division facilitates the exchange of information and requests between foreign and domestic police. It also conducts training seminars on new developments in international police-to-police assistance.

State Liaison Offices

An Interpol office has been established in each state, as well as, Chicago, San Diego, New York City, Washington, D.C., American Samoa, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, to serve as the focal point for all requests involving international matters. These offices are typically located within a state police agency or state bureau of investigation and act as a point of contact for local law enforcement in their states. Trained investigative personnel have been designated in each office to assist local law enforcement agencies with Interpol requests. International requests for investigative assistance which require action by the police of a particular state are forwarded by the USNCB to the Liaison office in that state. The State Liaison office, in turn, directs the request to the appropriate state entity.
