Fishing on the Grasslands
Fishing is a treasured recreational
activity for many people. However, as there are no
natural lakes on the Little Missouri or Grand River/Cedar
River National Grasslands, several fishing ponds have
been developed over the years to accommodate the angler.
Wildlife is also attracted to these areas, making
for an even more enjoyable visit. These impoundments
have been accomplished through partnerships between
the Forest Service and ND Game and Fish, Ducks Unlimited,
and the local rancher. Impoundments are usually stocked
by the North Dakota Game Fish Department primarily
with trout, sunfish, perch, and/or bass.
