InterAction and USAID/CMM’s Inaugural Quarterly Meeting on Conflict Early Warning

June 2, 2004

The first Quarterly Meeting on Conflict Early Warning was held on June 2, 2004. The meetings are meant to be an exchange of information on countries at risk of conflict or renewed conflict. InterAction and CMM believe that NGOs and the USG can do a better job of “conflict early warning,” in order to inform policy-makers and formulate early preventive actions, before a problem explodes onto the front pages of newspapers and opportunity for early response is lost. This first meeting focused on situations the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea. The next meeting will take place on October 5, 2004.
