Jerrod Lochmiller is wanted in Los Angeles, California, for his alleged involvement in a scheme to defraud customers of an Internet auction site. From August of 2000 to January of 2001, Lochmiller allegedly posted fraudulent listings on an Internet auction site offering to sell various items, including computers, cameras, televisions and musical instruments. Lochmiller, using aliases, allegedly established multiple e-mail accounts on an Internet service provider as a point of contact and corresponding accounts on an Internet auction site. Auctions were posted under each account. In preparation for the receipt of payments for the bogus products, a private mailbox in a false name was established and a bank account was opened for proceeds to be deposited. Purported winners of the auctions sent payments to the private mailbox, but never received their products. Eighteen victims lost nearly $40,000 as a result of this fraud. As a result of this investigation, worked jointly by the FBI and the United States Postal Service, a federal arrest warrant was issued in December of 2002 in the Central District of California charging Lochmiller with mail fraud. In addition, federal law enforcement authorities in Pasadena, California are seeking Lochmiller for allegedly operating an illegal website in which he sold counterfeit state identification to individuals, many of whom were convicted felons, via the Internet. He is also wanted by local law enforcement authorities in San Diego, California for counterfeiting checks IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS PERSON, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL FBI OFFICE OR THE NEAREST AMERICAN EMBASSY OR CONSULATE. |
