Brief Description: In April 2002, the Government of the Republic of Angola (GRA) and the Union for the Total Independence of Angola ended a 27-year conflict that affected more than four million people. Following the declaration of a cease-fire, the USG significantly increased emergency assistance to Angola in order to support the peace process. Since 1990, the USG has provided more than $750 million in humanitarian assistance to Angola.
