Velasquez is fluent in Spanish and has expressed a desire to live in Baja California, Mexico, specifically Rosarito or Ensenada. However, she may have returned to her native country of Peru. She also has ties to Washington, DC.

Velasquez may wear glasses or contact lenses. She also has two dental bridges.

THE CRIME

Anna Maria Velasquez is wanted for allegedly abducting her son, Victor Min Nakada, from San Diego, California. Around May of 1997, Velasquez allegedly left the State of California with the child in order to deprive the father of his visitation rights. A state warrant was issued for her arrest in December of 1997 by the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, San Diego Judicial District, Central Division. On August 10, 2001, a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court, Southern District of California, charging Velasquez with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
