Mr.
Schiff: In 2001, a Baltimore company had a major computer problem. FBI Special
Agent Shawn Henry says it couldn't service their clients...
Mr.
Henry: "This was a company that provided web-hosting services for other corporations
to host their web sites."
Mr.
Schiff: Henry says the subject took down the company's entire computer network.
The company called the FBI...
Mr.
Henry: "In this particular case, Agents went out and interviewed employees
within the company."
Mr.
Schiff: Henry says a former employee became a prime suspect...
Mr.
Henry: "We used an undercover FBI Agent portraying himself as a consultant
to the company who went out to meet with this disgruntled employee. And through
a series of telephone calls and personal meetings, was able to get the disgruntled
employee to completely confess and lay out the entire scheme."
Mr.
Schiff: Henry says the subject said he had passwords and reconfigured all the
company switches and then changed all the passwords. He was arrested. After pleading
guilty, he was sentenced and ordered to pay restitution of thousands of dollars.
I'm Neal Schiff and that's the FBI's Closed Case of the Week."
