Counterterrorism/Weapons of Mass Destruction Training Links

In response to the recent demand for training pertaining to counterterrorism and weapons of mass destruction, the Training Division of the FBI has compiled the following list of web sites that contain training opportunities available to federal, state, and local law enforcement and emergency response personnel. Many of these programs are federally funded and are offered free-of-charge or at minimal cost. The Training Division has not evaluated the content of all of these courses.

Bureau of Justice Assistance Law Enforcement Training Database
The BJA Training Database is a catalog of all federally funded and supported training available to state and local law enforcement officials. Each database listing includes the training provider, a course description, eligibility criteria, and contact information. Areas of training include terrorism, intelligence, weapons of mass destruction, and cybercrime.

Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Training Programs
FLETC, located in Glynco, Georgia, provides training to new and experienced federal, state, and local law enforcement officers.

US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs Terrorism and Domestic Preparedness Page
This page provides a listing of resources available to law enforcement/emergency response personnel relating to terrorism matters.

Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, and Corrections Training Resources (LECTR) Page
LECTR, which is sponsored by the National Institute of Justice, is a World Wide Web based national repository of law enforcement, emergency management (hazmat, fire, emergency medical, emergency management) and corrections course announcements and training resources.

The mission of the NDPO is to coordinate all federal efforts to assist state and local emergency responders with planning, training, equipment, and exercise needs necessary to respond to a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) incident. The NDPO compendium of courses was designed to inform state and local agencies of federal training that is available in the area of weapons of mass destruction. These courses are all available to state and local responders.

National Domestic Preparedness Office (NDPO) Compendium of State Training Programs and Exercises Relating to Weapons of Mass Destruction
A compendium of state emergency management web sites. These sites contain the most up-to-date information on state WMD training programs and exercises.

Domestic Preparedness Campus, National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC)
A free Internet-based course designed to give students a basic understanding of domestic preparedness topics. These classes also serve as prerequisites for advanced NERRTC training.

National Fire Academy (NFA)
Through its courses and programs, the NFA works to enhance the ability of fire and emergency services and allied professionals to deal more effectively with fire and related emergencies.

Terrorism Consequence Management Courses for Local Jurisdictions (FEMA)
Course materials from FEMA's Emergency Management Institute that are intended to help senior local government officials prepare for and respond to terrorist incidents.

Department of Energy (DOE)/International Association of Fire Fighters'(IAFF) Training for Radiation Emergencies
Training materials designed to provide needed information and a method to train fire departments and other emergency responders who may be called upon to respond to accidents involving radioactive materials along DOE transportation corridors and routes.

Hands-On CAMEO (Computer-Aided Management of Emergency Operations) Training
A course developed by Harvard University and the Environmental Protection Agency's Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office.
