FORMER NAUGATUCK BANK EMPLOYEE PLEADS GUILTY TO EMBEZZLEMENT

Kevin J. O'Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that SHARON E. BOHUSKI, age 32, of 117 Miller Drive, Naugatuck, Connecticut, pleaded guilty today in Hartford federal court to embezzling funds of the Naugatuck Savings Bank. BOHUSKI, a former teller at the bank, admitted in court proceedings that she had unlawfully diverted $10,000 of the bank's funds by making unauthorized withdrawals from customers' accounts and converting the money to her own use. She has already repaid the bank the full amount of the embezzled funds.

BOHUSKI will be sentenced by United States District Judge Christopher F. Droney on November 15, 2004, at which time she faces a maximum penalty of 30 years of imprisonment, a $1,000,000 fine, and a five-year period of supervised release.

"This case is representative of the commitment of our Office to ensure the integrity of the banking system," stated United States Attorney O'Connor. "We will prosecute bank employees who violate their position of trust by manipulating bank funds."

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Peter A. Clark.
