WATERBURY RESIDENT SENTENCED FOR IDENTITY THEFT Kevin J. O'Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that DERRICK C. DAVIS, age 48, a Jamaican citizen illegally residing in Waterbury, Connecticut, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Christopher F. Droney in Hartford to three years of probation. On December 5, 2003, DAVIS pleaded guilty to a one-count Information charging him with misuse of a Social Security card. In pleading guilty, DAVIS acknowledged that he falsely used a Social Security account number that was not assigned to him by the Commissioner of Social Security, but rather belonged to another individual. DAVIS used the Social Security account number to obtain charge cards and loans from financial institutions and then used those charge cards and the proceeds from the loans to purchase goods and services. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Krishna R. Patel. | |
