WEST HARTFORD FOUNDATION BOOKKEEPER PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL FORGERY CHARGES

Kevin J. O'Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JUDITH SEDOR, age 55, of 43 Newgate Road, East Granby, Connecticut, pleaded guilty today to a one-count Information charging her with forgery.

In proceedings today before United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven, SEDOR, who was formerly employed as the office manager and bookkeeper for both the Kohn-Joseloff Foundation, a West Hartford charitable organization, and Sycamore Properties Limited Partnership, a family-owned partnership, admitted that between February 2002 and December 2002, she forged 16 Foundation and Sycamore Properties checks, each made payable to herself, in the total amount of $44,996. SEDOR admitted that she affixed the signatures of a principal of the Foundation and Sycamore Properties to each check without their knowledge or consent.

After entering her plea, SEDOR was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond. When she is sentenced on August 30, 2004, SEDOR faces a possible term of imprisonment of up to ten years and a maximum fine of $250,000.

This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant United States Attorney Ronald S. Apter.
