DANBURY POSTAL WORKER SENTENCED FOR STEALING USPS MONEY ORDERS Kevin J. O'Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that MARCUS ROBINSON, age 29, of 102 Wake Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut, was sentenced today in New Haven federal court to three years probation for misappropriating postal funds. Senior United States District Judge Peter C. Dorsey also ordered ROBINSON to perform 150 hours of community service. On October 9, 2003, ROBINSON pleaded guilty to a one count Information, admitting that while he worked as a postal employee at the Danbury Post Offices, ROBINSON wrote out Postal Money Orders to himself and others that he then converted into cash for his own personal use. From April 7, 1999 through May 10, 1999, ROBINSON stole six money orders totalling $4,051.96. As part of his guilty plea, ROBINSON agreed to make full restitution. This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian E. Spears. | |
