Planning of Flights

A total of approximately 30 flight hours will be available in EVE. The flight plan for each individual flight will be kept relatively unaltered. The basic idea is to fly a low-level (100ft) flight leg of 1 hour duration bracketed around satellite overpass time. The Terra and Aqua satellites, which each carry a MODIS instrument generally have overpass times at Monterey, CA between 10:30 and 11:30am, and 1:00 and 2:00pm respectively. An attempt will be made to divide the research flights evenly between the two satellites, although the strongest emphasis is on trying to find conditions with considerable dust AOD in the near-IR.
