Missouri Basin River Forecast Center

Located on State Highway 5 north of Pleasant Hill, this National Weather Service Office provides all the weather and flood warnings, daily forecasts, and meteorologic and hydrologic data for 37 counties in the northwest third of Missouri, and seven counties in northeast Kansas serving a population of more than 2,313,000. NWS data and products form a national information database and infrastructure which can be used by other government agencies, the private sector, media, the public and the global community. National Weather Service
Training Center

The National Weather Service (NWS) Training Center (NWSTC) provides the majority of the professional and technical training for NWS. Its- curriculum includes 36 different courses in meteorology, hydrology, electronics, computer science, and management. In 1996, over 1,500 NWS employees, from all parts of the country, received training.

The NWSTC is responsible for all maintenance training, and its laboratories contain most of the systems that are in operation at field offices, including the WSR-88D-NEXRAD radar and the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), and the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS).

The training facility also offers summer workshops in meteorology for educators. Each summer, the Center works with the American Meteorological Society and the State University of New York at Brockport to conduct a separate program for pre-college teachers. Participating educators are selected from a national panel of applicants to attend the two-week session. Aviation Weather Center

Part of the National Centers for Environment Prediction, the Aviation Weather Center enhances safety by issuing accurate warnings, forecasts and analysis of hazardous weather for aviation interests. Meteorologists identify existing or imminent weather hazards to aircraft in flight and create warnings for the aviation community. The Center also originates two-day forecasts of weather conditions that will effect domestic and international aviation. This national center serves as the primary repair depot and inspection station for all National Weather Service equipment. In addition, it serves as a warehouse for new stock, repair equipment, and spare parts. Central Administrative Support Center


The Central Administrative Support Center (CASC), hosted by NOAA's Office of Finance and Administration, is one of four Administrative Support Centers which are part of Department of Commerce (DOC). It provides management and administrative support to the following DOC agenices: NOAA, the International Trade Administration, the Minority Business Development Agency, the Bureau of Export Administration, and the Economic Development Administration. CASC provides administrative services to DOC organizations in 33 states, with most activites centered in 18 states in the Midwest, mid-South, Southeast, and Florida. CASC consists of an Office of the Director, and five divisions: Human Resources, Acquisition Management, Finance, Facilities and Logistics,and Systems. There is also a Commerce BankCard Center. Central Administrative Support Center

Part of NOAA's Central Administrative Support Center, the National Logistics Support Center (NLSC) provides nationwide and worldwide logistics support services to agencies within the Departments of Commerce, Agriculture, Defense, and Transportation. To do so, it maintains a multimillion dollar inventory of more than 120-130,000 of those items each year. Its largest customers, the National Weather Service and USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, are directly involved in the preservation of public health, public safety, and the economic viability of the Nation.
