West Africa Ministerial Conference on Science and Technology: Getting Africa a Seat on the Gene Revolution Train

A Ministerial Conference centered on harnessing the power of science and technology to improve agriculture took place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from June 21-23, 2004 and was attended by key individuals responsible for the advancement of science and technology in agriculture in West Africa. The event was organized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Government of Burkina Faso, with financial and technical support from the U.S. State Department and USAID /WARP. More

The BIG NEWS in the region is the locust outbreak that threatens livelihoods of people in Mauritania, Senegal, Mali and Niger. WARP's African Emergency Locust and Grasshopper Advisor, Harry Bottenberg, traveled to Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal to assess the situation in late July. More
