NOAA's
Employee Worklife Center offers free and confidential services to all NOAA
employees. Our hours are flexible and our personalized service is
designed to meet your needs whether you work in Silver Spring, the Field
or are stationed on a NOAA ship.

Worklife
Advisors
Our
friendly and highly skilled Worklife Advisors are available five days a
week to help employees deal with their worklife issues. the advisor
serves as a resource and referral for employees and is accessible through
phone, email or in person.

Resource
Library
-
Located
in Silver Spring, MD, the resource library has books, periodicals, brochures,
newsletters, articles and tapes on a wide variety of worklife topics.

There
are materials for parents and children of aging parents; financial management;
stress management; career management; people looking for college information;
those interested in adoption, and for everyone trying to manage their lives
and balance work and personal responsibilities, just to mention a few.

are available for loan to all NOAA employees.

Reading
& Relaxation Area

Located
in Silver Spring, the Reading & Relaxation room offers a quiet place
for employees to de-stress. Employees can enjoy the relaxed environment
for reading worklife resources.

Relaxation
books, videos and cd's are available for use in the room.

Unwind
in the ergonomic massage chair and listen to your choice of relaxing music.

Benefit
from quiet meditation as you watch the fish in our salt water fish tank.

The room
is available for employee use for 20 minute periods. For access to
the reading and relaxation area see the Worklife Advisor.
Lactation Room
-
Located
in the Silver Spring complex, the lactation room provides a quiet and private
space for nursing mothers. It is equipped with a comfortable chair,
sink, refrigerator and resources.

Seminars
-
Monthly
seminars are offered on topics ranging from child care, parenting, elder
care, shift work, aging and balancing work and family.

Seminars
are webcast to all NOAA employees.

Employees
are encouraged to let the Worklife Advisor know what additional seminar
topics they are looking for.
Discussion
Groups
-
Facilitated
by our Worklife Advisor, discussion groups provide employees the support
they need to work through difficult times.

Employees
interested in starting a discussion group should contact the worklife advisor.
Resource Fairs
-
Resource fairs will be offered
to provide employees with large amounts of information to employees on
a specific topic.
Your feedback will be
used to customize future Center offerings to meet the diverse needs of
our employees.
