Employees of the Boston FBI Division
dedicate a large amount of their personal time to a number of
community outreach programs. FBI employees also regularly appear
at speaking engagements throughout the four-state territory.
Additionally, the Boston FBI Office has instituted a Citizen's
Academy which began in the spring of 1998. This academy brings
together many of Boston's most prominent civic, business, education
and financial leaders for seminars hosted by the Boston FBI.
The Citizen's Academy is intended to give those attending a better
understanding of today's FBI.
In October 1997, the Boston FBI
Office adopted South Boston's Patrick F. Gavin Middle School.
The FBI's Adopt-A-School Program is a 16-week Junior Special
Agent and Mentoring Program which provides a comprehensive youth
program in which the targeted sixth-grade students are counseled,
instructed and mentored by Boston FBI employees--this is done
with the intent of raising the students' levels of expectation,
improvement of school performance and instilling in them an appreciation
and respect for law enforcement.

Awareness of National Security
Issues and Response
The FBI's ANSIR
Program is largely a liaison initiative which serves as the
FBI's public voice with private industry on matters concerning
economic espionage and theft of trade secrets. ANSIR has added
a threat advisory system in recent years initially adminstered
by facsimile and currently in the process of migrating to e-mail
on the Internet. There are over 500 companies in the Boston area
who partcipate in the ANSIR Program.
The Boston Office also has available
on an as-needed basis for its use, and for use of other law enforcement
agencies, teams of specially trained and highly motivated agents
and support personnel. These personnel comprise both the Special
Weapons And Tactics team and the Evidence Response Team. |
