Mariana Cisneros was last seen on February 20, 2003, in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time, she was in the company of her mother, Martha L. Cano Patlan, and Patlan's live-in boyfriend, Genero Espinoza Dorantes. She may be traveling with them and a 15-month-old boy in a white, 1995 Chevrolet AstroVan with tinted windows.

Patlan and Dorantes are currently wanted for the murder of her four-year-old son. The body of the boy was found in a public park in Nashville, Tennessee, on February 22, 2003. The boy had been both beaten and burned. After local arrest warrants were issued for both Patlan and Dorantes charging them with criminal homicide, federal arrest warrants were issued for them on February 25, 2003, in the United States District Court, Nashville, Tennessee, charging them with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
