The Space Environment Center (SEC) real-time data base is the most timely and extensive space weather data base in the world. Because of SEC's emphasis on providing data as quickly as possible, some values are preliminary. SEC cannot guarantee the overall quality and reliability of preliminary data and does not encourage its use for research purposes. The National Geophysical Data Center for Solar Terrestrial Physics distributes some space weather data in final form, with a higher level of quality control and the reliability necessary for research purposes.
SEC's economic and technical resources determine the products, data, and displays we offer. Continuing expansion and enhancements to SEC services occassionally result in format changes in displays and reports. SEC attempts to give advance notice of changes to data and products in Information About Online Data at SEC and SECNEWS.txt.
SEC makes every effort to provide data on a uniform schedule; SEC cannot, however, be responsible for delays or loss of data resulting from data-source failure, computer malfunction, or lack of network access. SEC attempts to explain ongoing problems, in Information About Online Data at SEC and SECNEWS.txt.
