Director Robert S. Mueller, III, announced 2/24/04 the appointment of Drew S.
Parenti as Special Assistant to the Director
Mr.
Parenti, a veteran FBI Agent, entered on duty with the FBI in June 1984. His first
office of assignment was the Phoenix Division, where he worked Organized Crime/Drug
matters. In April 1987, Mr. Parenti was transferred to the Miami Division, Key
West Resident Agency, where his assignments included the full spectrum of FBI
violations, specializing in drug matters. In May 1992, Mr. Parenti was promoted
to the position of Supervisory Special Agent in the then-Administrative Summary
Unit, FBIHQ, where he had responsibilities for the adjudication of employee misconduct,
performance related issues, and inspection matters. In October 1994, Mr. Parenti
was promoted to the position of Supervisory Special Agent in the San Diego Division,
where he supervised the division's Drug Squad and Criminal Intelligence Squad.
In June 2000, Mr. Parenti was selected to serve in Mexico City as the Program
Manager for Resolution Six (the FBI's drug program abroad). In July 2002, Mr.
Parenti was promoted to the position of Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the
Houston Division.
In
his new role as a Special Assistant to the Director, Mr. Parenti will provide
counsel to the Director on a variety of policy issues. Additionally, Mr. Parenti
will provide day-to-day administrative support to the Director by assisting in
his preparation for meetings and the resolution of issues.
