FBI Director Robert S. Mueller
III, today announced the appointment of Sheri A. Farrar, as Assistant
Director of the FBI's Administration Services Division at FBI
Headquarters. This division is responsible for the development
and implementation of personnel programs and services necessary
to support the mission of the FBI.
"Sheri Farrar brings to
this critical assignment a wealth of experience and successes.
She has distinguished herself in a number of investigative, supervisory,
and leadership positions, and is uniquely qualified to fill this
pivotal role in the FBI," Mueller said. "Her wide experience
and demonstrated success at every level has certainly earned
her this promotion as Assistant Director."
Ms. Farrar, 51, currently serves
as the Deputy Assistant Director, of the Administrative Services
Division, and has been temporarily assigned as Special Assistant
in the Director's Office.
Ms. Farrar was designated a Special
Agent on February 21, 1982, and was first assigned to the Minneapolis,
Minnesota, FBI Office. In January 1983, Ms. Farrar was transferred
to the Honolulu Field Office, where she was the first woman Special
Agent permanently assigned to that division. In April 1985, she
was transferred to the Los Angeles Division. In June 1988, Ms.
Farrar came to FBI Headquarters assigned to the Inspection Division.
In April 1994, Ms. Farrar was then promoted to Assistant Special
Agent in Charge of the Detroit, Michigan, FBI Office.
In March 1998, Ms. Farrar was
selected to serve as Special Agent in Charge of the Cincinnati,
Ohio, Field Division. Ms. Farrar was a 2001 recipient of a Presidential
Rank Award for Meritorious Service.
A native of Nebraska, Ms. Farrar
earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from the University
of Nebraska, in 1972.
