James C. Kauffman is being sought for his alleged involvement in several crimes, which were committed in the El Paso, Texas, area. Kauffman is allegedly a member of a group that travels across the country to defraud the elderly. During December of 1999, Kauffman allegedly participated in home repair scams that cheated elderly citizens out of tens of thousands of dollars. On February 14, 2003, a state arrest warrant was issued in the 168th Judicial District Court, El Paso County, Texas, charging Kauffman with four counts of burglary of a habitation. Subsequently, on October 3, 2003, a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court, Western District of Texas, El Paso, Texas, charging Kauffman with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
