Welcome

Welcome to the FBI Houston Division's web site. The FBI Houston Division is the regional center for the Texas coastal bend area from the Texas - Louisiana border to South Texas. The region includes the cities of Houston, Beaumont, Bryan, Corpus Christi, Conroe, Texas City and Victoria in addition to many other towns and municipalities.  The purpose of this site is to provide information to the public regarding the FBI mission in Texas, how to contact us, and to serve as a source of data.

The Houston Division is one of the ten largest in the FBI, covering a 40 county region with a population of roughly 16 million inhabitants.

Our Mission

The FBI's top ten priorities are: protecting the U.S. from terrorist attacks, from foreign intelligence operations, and from cyber-based attacks and high-technology crimes; combating public corruption at all levels; protecting civil rights; combating international and national organized crime, major white-collar crime, and significant violent crime; supporting our law enforcement and intelligence partners; and upgrading FBI technology.

Division Profile

The FBI has located Division Field Offices in 56 cities. Houston is one of those.  Since its founding in 1908 as the Bureau of Investigation, the FBI has evolved into one of the most respected and sophisticated law enforcement agencies in the world. As the primary investigative arm of the federal government, the FBI is responsible for enforcing over 300 federal statutes and for conducting sensitive national security investigations.

While our top priority is protecting the U.S. from terrorist attacks and from foreign intelligence operations, FBI Special Agents and Professional Support Employees also perform many other tasks, such as investigations into organized crime, white-collar crime, public corruption, financial crime, fraud against the government, bribery, copyright matters, civil rights violations, bank robbery, extortion, kidnapping, air piracy, terrorism, foreign counterintelligence, interstate criminal activity, fugitive and drug-trafficking matters, and other violations of federal statutes.

The FBI also works with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in investigating matters of joint interest and in training law enforcement officers at the FBI Academy.
